Coaching Staff

Academy Hockey Club is proud to announce the head coaches for the Summer Camp 25-29 Jul 2018.
Colin Miller.  Coach Miller is a former Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played 276 games in the International Hockey League, primarily with the Atlanta Knights, and 213 games in the ECHL, mostly with the Dayton Bombers.  Coach Miller has been teaching youth hockey in Dayton for several years and is a welcome addition to the Academy coaching staff.
Pete Sandness.  Coach Sandness played NCAA Division I college hockey at the United States Air Force Academy after graduating from Eden Prairie HS in MN in 1993.  Coach has experience at both the High School and youth levels of hockey teaching and brings a great energy to his Squirts/Peewees.  Huge win for Academy Hockey and our players having Coach S join us!
Greg Gutterman.  Coach Gutterman is a 1989 graduate of the Air Force Academy where he played NCAA Division I hockey for the Falcons.  He has 7 years coaching experience coaching college teams (ACAH University of Dayton and ACHA Utah State University — national 4th, 5th, 7th and 12th place finishes), 4 years at the High School level (winning a Utah State Championship in 1998), and a decade+ coaching youth hockey.
Tony Morris, the reason Springboro HS is on the map for HS hockey in OH, Coach Morris has a decade+ experience teaching hockey in the Springboro area and joins the Academy Hockey Club as our 2018/19 Pre/Post season NUGS head coach,.  Tony will join us on the ice for several of the Bantam/High School sessions.
Ron Sochocki. Coach S has been involved in Dayton Hockey for over a decade.  He currently is top instructor for the Stealth Squirts and will be joining us as an assistant for the Squirt./Peewee sessions for the 2nd straight year.  Hug win for the Academy!
Key assistants include: Coach Mike Mazza (Beavercreek HS Assistant Coach and former Bluejackets AA player), Coach Nate Lawson (Stealth Assistant who learned hockey in Arizona of all places), and Jeff Duford who has 5 years+ coaching with the Stealth youth program and rates as a great player’s coach!

 

2016 Academy Hockey Club Coaches:

Academy High School Hockey Club proudly announces Coach Tony Thomas will lead the September -October 2016 Pre-season league at Dayton’s South Metro Sports arena. Coach Thomas is a former NCAA Division I player and currently works at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Read more at:

Academy High School Hockey Club is proud to announce the addition of Coach Scott Mathis to the ice! Coach Mathis is a former NCAA Division I Air Force Academy player and currently working at Wright Patterson AFB. He Joins Coach Tony Thomas for both the July Camp and Fall League. See more at:

Academy High School Hockey Club is proud to announce Goalie Coach Doug Lantry has joined the Academy Club’s Coaching Staff.  Coach Lantry brings 30 years of playing and youth coaching experience to the program.  He is USA Hockey certified and trained Goalie Coach.
